Policies & Requirements

1. Hours of Operation

We operate from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6:30pm, and on Saturday & Sunday from 8am to 6pm. For the safety and well-being of your furry friends, please ensure timely pick-ups. Dogs not picked up by closing will be brought inside and charged overnight rates.

2. New Clients to Island Dog Lodge (Day Lodging Care)

For all new canine guests, attending at least 1 half-day lodging (Initial day lodging) is required. This allows us to carefully assess their compatibility with our environment and other dogs, ensuring their comfort and safety before proceeding to regular day lodging. Should we observe any signs of excessive stress or nervousness, we'll take the necessary steps, including a possible request for a second day lodging or contacting you for pick-up. We understand that nervousness is natural, and we handle it with patience and care, gradually introducing them to our environment and companions. Island Dog Lodge is committed to creating a stress-free and safe experience for all our guests.

3. Day Lodging 

Our full-day lodging services run five days a week, offering a fantastic opportunity for your dog(s) to socialize and expend their energy.  Collars and leashes are required at all times, with no exceptions for prong or shock collars. Our pick-up and drop-off times are carefully scheduled to ensure smooth operations. Outdoor playtime is adjusted according to weather conditions, ensuring your furry companions enjoy their time outdoors safely.  We use bubbles and water play stations for play.  In segregated pens we have a Jolly Ball for play for individual dogs.   Otherwise dogs do not have access to toys to avoid and resource guarding. 

3.1  Drop off and Pick up

All dogs must have a collar and leash when entering and exiting the facility.  We do not allow any off leash dogs to be brought in. Should you require a leash, you can purchase one at the reception desk.

4. Overnight Lodging

When dropping off your beloved pets for overnight stays, please ensure it's at least 1 hour before closing time. Feeding times and instructions will be provided, with no feeding permitted after 6:00pm. Rest assured, your dogs will have access to water and soothing music throughout their stay, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing environment.

New clients are required to fill out an intake form with us beforehand. Kindly be aware that we may reach out via phone to discuss your form if necessary. Your reservation will be confirmed promptly upon receipt of all intake information.

5. Food

For our Overnight Lodging guests; to maintain dietary consistency, we recommend all dogs bring their own food in sealed containers. Treats should be familiar to avoid any potential upset stomachs. Please make sure you bring enough food to cover your dog’s stay with us!

We offer a full menu of meals and treats for your pups, you can select these Add-ons when booking your day or overnight lodging.

6. Medications

We understand that some dogs may require medications, and we are well-equipped to handle such cases. All medications must be in their original containers, clearly labelled with dosage instructions.

7. Vaccinations

The safety and health of all our guests are of utmost importance. As such, we require all dogs to have current vaccination records on file with us. Please ensure your furry companions are up to date with the required vaccinations, including rabies, DA2PP/DHPP, and Bordatella (Kennel Cough). We understand that due to the backlog of Vet appointments in some areas, clients may need a month or two to be current. Please provide your most current records.

8. Island Dog Lodge Spay and Neuter Policy

At Island Dog Lodge, we prioritize the well-being and safety of all our canine guests. We welcome all guests, we understand and respect that some families may choose to leave their pet intact. To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all dogs, we have established the following policy:

**Female Dogs in Heat:**

  • Female dogs cannot attend Island Dog Lodge during their heat cycle or coming into season.

  • The heat cycle typically lasts approximately 18 days, or 2 to 3 weeks.

  • Please monitor your female dog's cycle and refrain from bringing her to our facility during this time.

  • Please note if you dog should go into heat while being lodged, we will make appropriate provisions.

This policy helps us maintain a harmonious environment for all our guests and ensures the comfort and safety of your beloved pets. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. 9. Rates and Memberships

Our rates are subject to change, and payment is due upon pick-up, except under special circumstances. We accept various forms of payment, including credit cards, debit, cash, Interac eTransfers, and checks made payable to "Island Dog Lodge Inc."  Pricing for all services can be found per page/per service. 

 9.1 Cancellations

Please provide 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled visit. 

9.2 Refunds & Reschedule

Refunds and or a reschedule will be provided if notice of cancellation is received within 24 hours.

9.3  Peak season and Holiday Rates 

Apply to Overnight Lodging from Dec 1- Jan 8 and June 1- August 31st.

11. Play Pens and Security

Safety is our top priority, and we've taken extensive measures to ensure a secure environment for all our guests. Our play pens are carefully designed and monitored, with safety gates, security fencing, and shaded areas. We use interactive toys and water play stations to keep our guests entertained and engaged.  We have segregated pen areas for dogs that need to be on their own.  Within each pen is an area for shade and relaxing as well as interactive Jolly balls for entertaining. Our facility includes 24 hour camera monitored surveillance. Each overnight space has it’s own camera. Additional cameras within the facility and the outside of our property monitor all areas of our lodge.

13. Authorized Pick Up

Please ensure we are aware of any authorized individuals for pick-up from daycare or lodging. Your pet's safety is our priority, and we take every precaution to ensure a smooth and secure pick-up process.

14. Emergency Vet Calls

Your pet's health and well-being are our top priorities. In the event of any health concerns or emergencies, we will always err on the side of caution and seek veterinary care if necessary. Please ensure we are aware of any health conditions or concerns prior to boarding.  Vet bills are to be paid by the owner in the event one is needed. We will call you and the emergency contact, but these scenarios may be time sensitive and you may not have time to get back to us in time.

We love our dogs and will treat your dogs as our own. Their physical well-being, mental health and cognitive functioning will always be our main priority and in the forefront of our mind’s day to day. Every dog will be set up for success, as will the owners.
